YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED…

Can I bring a friend to class?

Absolutely! Sometimes it’s even more fun when you brig a plus-one. If you do intend to bring a friend, however, do make sure you call up your studio and book them in so we can make sure there is space in the class.

Can I use my phone to film?

We do allow filming in class as long as the camera is positioned in a way that you’re the only person in the frame. Please be courteous and aware that others may not want themselves on camera.

Recording and the use of your phone should only be done after the instructor has finished giving safety instructions and body cues. You may also at times be required to assist and spot your fellow students in difficult or complex moves. Please pay attention to your instructor and fellow classmates at all times. We do not allow the use of phones to text and call as a distraction may result in injury or misunderstanding of key points.

Don’t forget to tag us on instagram @thepoleroom or use the hashtags #tprtribe #thepoleroom

I’m overweight, unfit and/or uncoordinated – can I still join?

Absolutely! When joining you are not expected to have any prior fitness or dance background. Our job is to teach you and help you improve over the journey.

What do I wear to my first pole class?

A good rule of thumb for Pole is the more skin you show, the more grip you’ll have on the pole.

Even as a beginner you will be using your thighs, knees, calves and ankles to hug the pole, so short shorts are a must for the best possible grip. For your upper body a short sleeved shirt or singlet is best. As you become more of an advanced poler and move through the levels, a sports bra or crop top will help to expose the skin on your elbows, underarms, back and midriff. To get the most from each session avoid using moisturiser / oils and remove all jewellery.

What to wear to my first dance or conditioning class?

Dance classes (unless doing advanced choreography) and conditioning classes will rarely require you to grip onto the pole with your skin. Leggings, shorts, shirt, jumpers, whatever’s comfortable and easy for you to dance or move in. In class there’s a chance you’ll get hot and sweaty so bring a light change of clothes if needed. Check the class description below to see if knee pads and heels are required.

What do I need to bring?

Hydration is important so always bring a water bottle! We have taps in the studios to refill.
Sweaty hands are the arch-nemesis of a pole dancer, bring along a hand towel and grip which can be purchased from studios! Knee pads are essential to have on hand. There’s a high chance you’ll get hot and sweaty in class so bring a light change of clothes if needed.

Do I have to wear heels?

Heels are typically worn only in our Pole Dance or Floorwork classes. Check the class description to see if heels are recommended. In some cases students will opt not to wear them and that’s totally fine!

Is there an age limit for classes?

For our Pole program, you must be at least 16 years old and have parental consent if you are under the age of 18.
For our Lyra or Aerials program we do not have an age restriction, however if you are 14 or younger you will require a guardian to be present during the class.

What will make The Pole Room Eltham Special?

What makes Eltham special is its intimate size, with only eight poles in total, including the teacher’s. The space has a fresh, modern look that brings a fun and contemporary vibe to every class. With fewer students, you’ll receive more personal attention from your instructor and feel part of a close, supportive community. Everything about the studio is designed to inspire creativity, confidence, and self-expression, making every visit something you’ll look forward to.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there’s plenty of parking outside the studio, along with buses 514 & 902 stopping out the front and Eltham train station 15 minutes walk (Google maps).

Where is the Eltham studio located?

You’ll find us in the highly visable intersection of Bridge Street and Susan Street in Eltham, across the road from Bunnings Warehouse. You we are in the same row of factory’s as ACTV fitness, Air Fusion, Arquette and Computer repairs. The studio will servicr Melbourne’s North-Eastern suburbs including Eltham, Research, Greensborough, Diamond Creek, Montmorency, and other surrounding areas.

What Makes The Pole Room Eltham Different?

The Pole Room Eltham isn’t your typical TPR studio – it’s a pole enthusiasts home for self-expression, skill progression, and community connection. Our timetable is intentionally limited so we can focus on delivering immersive, progressive 8-week courses in three core areas: tricks, dance, and flexibility. This means you’ll follow a clear learning pathway, building new skills each week with a group of like-minded students. Each course is designed to build week by week, so you grow your skills while we ensure the program is outcome focused. No drop-in classes will be available and memberships will cannot be transferred from existing studios.

When is the Eltham studio opening?

We’re currently in construction mode with many different components arriving daily. The official opening date will be mid to late September. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates, or join our mailing list to be the first to know. We’re so excited to welcome you!

What classes will you offer at Eltham?

We’ll be running a variety of classes including Pole tricks (Beginner to Advanced), Dance, Flexibility, and Conditioning classes. We will also have studio hire available for practice, photoshoots, competition training and more. Events enquiry’s are welcome.
