Pay, requirements and how hiring works
The things instructors ask us before they apply. Something else? Put it in the comments on your application and the studio manager will answer it on the call.
Most instructors are employed casually on an hourly rate, paid with superannuation. We also engage some instructors as contractors in line with Fair Work requirements; contractors need an ABN and invoice the studio. Either way, every instructor is covered by our insurance.
Yes. Every Pole Room instructor holds our Pole Instructor Certification, but if you already have teaching experience it's fast-tracked: you complete our online modules rather than the full Academy program, then teach a trial class.
A current First Aid and CPR certificate is required (or you're willing to get one before your first class). A Working with Children Check is preferred. You'll need studio teaching experience and to be available weekday evenings or weekends.
There's a lot on offer, but most instructors teach one or two nights a week at one studio. If you want more hours, you can spread classes across several studios, and run your own skill-based workshops on top.
Yes, and we encourage you to apply. Mitcham, Highett, Narre Warren and Rowville run lyra and aerial silks programs, and Eltham runs aerial hammocks. Use the apparatus filter above to see where your discipline is taught.
Yes. The Pole Room insures all instructors while they're teaching for us, including contractors.
A studio manager reads your application and calls you for a chat about your experience, style and availability. Then you teach an audition or trial class at the studio, complete onboarding and studio induction, and your first classes go on the timetable.
Meet our Melbourne pole instructors.
Our instructors are a crew across seven studios, with events, training and a stage of their own. Every instructor has a profile on our website and students book classes by name. Yours would sit right here.
