Sometimes the hardest part of fitness isn’t finding the time. It’s finding something you actually want to keep showing up for.
You start with good intentions. You join a gym. You tell yourself this time will be different. You’ll stay consistent. You’ll make exercise part of your routine. But after a while, the excitement fades.
The workouts start feeling repetitive. The motivation disappears. And exercise becomes something you feel like you should be doing instead of something you genuinely enjoy.
For a lot of people, that something turns out to be pole dancing as a workout. That’s exactly where one of our students found herself.
When the Gym Stops Working
Cherise had tried the gym before, but she struggled to stay consistent because it had started to feel boring.
She wasn’t looking for another workout to force herself through. She wanted something different. Something fun. Something challenging. Something she would actually look forward to. And she found that at The Pole Room.
When she first discovered pole at The Pole Room Narre Warren, she wasn’t searching for a major life transformation. She simply wanted to find a workout that felt exciting again.
“I was doing gym before, but not consistently, because I was getting kind of bored of it. So I wanted to do something fun.”
Not Just Another Workout
What she found was completely different from traditional fitness. Instead of repeating the same movements every session, every pole class gave her something new to work towards.
A new skill to learn. A new challenge to overcome. A new reason to come back. But like many beginners, starting something unfamiliar came with uncertainty.
Would she be able to do it? Would she fit in? Would she be good enough?
“I didn’t think I was going to make it past probably the third class.”
Not because she didn’t enjoy it. But because trying something new can challenge the way you see yourself. So she made a choice.
“I’m doing this for me. I’ve got to push through.”
And by continuing to show up, she started discovering something unexpected. She actually enjoyed the journey. She found a workout she wanted to come back to.
Growing Stronger than She Expected
Over time, pole became more than just another form of exercise. It became something she looked forward to. A place where she could challenge herself, learn new skills, and celebrate progress along the way.
“I have found that I’m a lot stronger now.”
But the biggest change wasn’t just physical. It was the confidence that came from proving to herself that she could do something new.
Every class was a small reminder: She was capable of more than she thought. She could learn. She could improve. She could keep going.
That’s what makes pole different. You don’t need to arrive already feeling strong, confident, or experienced. You build those things by showing up.
Finding a Second Home
What started as a search for a fun workout became something much bigger. She found a community, like her second home.
A group of people who were all on their own journey. People who understood what it felt like to walk into their first class. People who celebrated the small wins. People who encouraged each other to keep going.
“I come from work. I come here. I’m probably here more than I’m at home.”
For her, The Pole Room became more than somewhere she exercised. It became somewhere she belonged.
“Everyone’s been amazing. I met the most amazing group of women here.”
That’s what makes the The Pole Room Tribe different. Students don’t just come to learn pole. They come to be surrounded by people who support them, encourage them, and celebrate every step of the journey. The best part was discovering what she was capable of.
When she first started, she was simply looking for something more enjoyable than the gym. She didn’t know she would find a place that felt like home. She didn’t know she would meet people who would become part of her journey. She didn’t know she would discover a hobby she genuinely loved. She just knew she wanted to try something different. And sometimes that’s all it takes.
You don’t need to feel completely ready. You don’t need to already believe you can do it. You just need to give yourself the chance to begin.
