What Happens in a Pole & Aerial Course

Starting your pole or aerial journey with TPR is rewarding, fun and fully supported. Our programs are carefully designed to help you succeed, and each course runs as a structured 8-week term with the same tribe every week. You can see the Pole Dance Program to preview every level and what you’ll learn.

So what actually happens across those 8 weeks? Here’s what to look forward to, what to mark in your calendar, and when to start thinking about your next term.

Week 1

It’s all happening! You’re clocking in at the studio for your first class of the term. You might have the jitters, but you’ll surprise yourself with what you can do once you step through the door. Your instructor will walk you through the warm-up, the basics of your level and how the term will run. You might wake up a little sore the next day, but you’ll already be looking forward to the next class.

Dressing the part is half the fun. For pole, wear shorts and a singlet so your skin can grip, bring water, and leave any lotions or oils at home.

Week 2

The studio is starting to feel familiar. You’re making new friends, getting to know your instructor and building classes into your weekly routine. The moves from week one are starting to click, and you’re ready to add a little more.

Week 3

Now the fun really starts. You’re adding new spins, transitions and combos, linking moves together and starting to find your own flow. This is often the week students notice the first real changes in their strength and confidence. Crazy how much more your body can do than you thought!

Week 4

Halfway already! It feels like yesterday you walked in for your first class. If you’ve missed a class, now’s a great time to book a make-up. Make-up classes are unlimited and included in your course, so a missed week never means a missed lesson.

Week 5

It’s crunch time, in the best way. You’re polishing your combos, staying consistent and booking in practice sessions to perfect what you’ve learnt in class. Repetition is key! Your instructor will also start building the excitement for the End-of-Term Performance. If you’re keen, amazing. If you’re a little shy, come along and cheer.

Week 6

Next term is on the horizon. Have a chat with your studio team about your preferred class time, whether you’re repeating your level or hoping to move up after grading. Popular classes fill fast, so lock in your spot early.

Week 7

You’ve made it to grading week! Grading is your chance to show your instructor everything you’ve learnt across the term so you can unlock the next level. It’s a friendly, interactive group session where your instructor asks you to perform the tricks and techniques taught throughout the term.

There’s no need for nerves. If you pass, congratulations on moving up! If you have a few tricks to polish, that’s totally fine too. You can simply repeat the level until you’re confident to move on. Everyone’s journey is unique, so go at your own pace and keep counting your wins.

Week 8

And just like that, you’ve finished your term. Your strength, flexibility, fitness and confidence have grown more than you thought possible, and the best part is you’re only getting started.

There’s no better way to celebrate than the End-of-Term Performance, where students take to the stage in front of a small, supportive crowd. Whether you’re performing or cheering on your tribe, it’s the perfect way to wrap up the term.
